Chicago’s winter might be chilly, but the city comes alive with a magical charm that is truly beautiful. As a Chicago native, I am here to tell you that don’t let the cold stir you away from planning your family getaway in this windy city. From glittering lights to indoor escapes, winter in the Windy City offers a lot of activities for all ages. Chicago is a city filled with culture and adventure. Being from Chicago myself, I have not even done half of the attractions that it has to offer. I could write many blog posts about the various activities. 1. Chicago Children’s Museum: One of our favorite museums. This museum hold dear to our family’s heart because my children have been visiting it since they were babies. There is always something new for them to explor. Kick off your winter adventures with a visit to the Chicago Children’s Museum at Navy Pier. With interactive exhibits and engaging activities, it’s the perfect spot for families to beat the winter blues while fostering creativity and learning.

2. Museum of Science and Industry: Escape the cold by immersing yourself in the wonders of science at the Museum of Science and Industry. Check out their beautiful Christmas trees around the world and explore hands-on exhibits, interactive displays, and discover the marvels of innovation and technology. Christmas around the world generally happens during the holiday season. It is not an exhibit to miss.

 

3. The Field Museum: Check out history and natural sciences at The Field Museum. Visit captivating exhibits including the iconic T-Rex named Sue and it’s a fascinating journey through time and the natural world.

 

4. Shedd Aquarium: Dive into the aquatic wonders at the Shedd Aquarium. Beat the winter chill by exploring the vibrant marine life, attending live shows, and immersing yourself in the mesmerizing underwater world. There is a wonderful play area for the little ones and they will be sure to spend a couple of hours there.

 

5. Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum: Connect with nature at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum right across from the Lincoln Park Zoo. Explore the indoor exhibits showcasing the region’s plants. There are many interactive exhibits for the kids. Grab some lunch and sit outside for a picnic.
