The Best Things to Do In Playa Del Carmen with Kids

I’m excited to share our recent trip to the stunning beaches of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where the sun-soaked beaches, vibrant culture, and endless activities made for the perfect family getaway. If you’re planning your next vacation with little ones in tow, Playa del Carmen should be at the top of your list! Let me walk you through our unforgettable experience and the top kid-friendly activities that made our trip a blast.

Some Tips:

  1. Airport Transportation: Upon landing at Cancun International Airport, you’ll have several options for reaching Playa del Carmen, located approximately 45 minutes south. While taxis and rental cars are readily available, a convenient and affordable choice is pre-arranged shuttle services. Companies like ADO offer comfortable and reliable shuttle buses that run frequently between the airport and Playa del Carmen, making it a hassle-free option for families and budget-conscious travelers. Our family booked a private shuttle through the Cancun airport website which included a return.
  2. Pack Light and Breathable Clothing: With its tropical climate, Playa del Carmen can get hot and humid, especially during the summer months. Pack lightweight, breathable clothing, and don’t forget your swimsuit and sunscreen!
  3. Learn Some Basic Spanish: While many locals in Playa del Carmen speak English, knowing some basic Spanish phrases can go a long way in enhancing your travel experience and connecting with the local culture.
