Things To Do In Palm Springs With Kids

Palm Springs, with its warm desert climate and stunning landscapes, offers a variety of family-friendly activities. From outdoor adventures to educational experiences, there’s something for everyone.  Palm Spring is one of those cities that is underated when it comes to travel. It is such a beautiful time with so many things to do. Our family really enjoyed all the things that it had to offer. It is definitely a very family friendly city. Here are some fun things to do in Palm Springs with kids.

Hotel Stay: Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa: A Desert Oasis for Families

The Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa goes above and beyond to cater to families. From fun family activities to spacious family suites, the resort ensures that every member of the family finds joy and comfort. For families, the resort’s HYtides is a water wonderland. This expansive water park features multiple pools, fun water slides, and a lazy river for a day of splashing fun. There is also a splash pad for the very younger ones.  One could easily do a weekend family trip and stay on property the entire time.Our family hope to visit Palm Springs and just stay at the resort to participate in the activities they offer.

HYTides Waterpark:

HYTides is a water park located at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa. With multiple pools, water slides, and a lazy river, it offers a refreshing retreat for families. The resort’s family-friendly amenities make it a perfect place to unwind. Consider getting a day pass if you are not staying at the resort. They do have younger kid section for those probably under the age of 6. It has small slides as well as a splash pad and zero depth pool. We truly enjoyed this waterpark. For half of our visit, we spent the whole day relaxing at the waterpark.

Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert (Temporary Closed Until March 2024):

Ignite the curiosity of young minds at the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert. With interactive exhibits covering science, nature, and the arts, this museum transforms learning into an engaging adventure. From a dinosaur dig to a music studio, there’s something for every budding scientist or artist. Be sure to check their website for updates. According to the website, they are currently closed and working on reopening in this upcoming year 2024.

Living Desert Zoo and Gardens:

Embark on a safari adventure at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in nearby Palm Desert. Encounter giraffes, cheetahs, meerkats, and other fascinating desert-dwelling creatures. The botanical gardens add a touch of natural beauty, making it a delightful outing for the whole family. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to feed the giraffes. Our kids had a great time feeding the giraffes. It was one of the highlights of the zoo. The zoo has so much space for the animals that it almost feels safari like. They also have an indoor learning center for the kids. The learning center has several interactive options and they also have animal meet and greets.

Palm Springs Air Museum:

For aviation enthusiasts, the Palm Springs Air Museum is a treasure trove of vintage aircraft and fascinating exhibits. With my plane loving family, visiting this museum was a must on our list. The museum is right across from the Palm Springs Airport and great to watch the take off and landings of places as well. Kids can marvel at the historic planes, learn about aviation history, and even catch a thrilling airshow during special events. They have several interactive options for the kids as well as simulator that have a fee.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway:

Glide over the picturesque Coachella Valley, offering panoramic views of the desert below. Once at the mountain station, families can explore hiking trails, experience and play in the snow during winter, and enjoy the stunning views.

Dinosaurs in the Anza Borrego Desert:

No visit to the desert would be complete without encountering the mesmerizing metal sculptures crafted by artist Ricardo Breceda. Venture to Borrego Springs, nestled in the vastness of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, to witness a prehistoric spectacle like no other. Scattered across the arid landscape, Ricardo Breceda’s larger-than-life dinosaur sculptures transport visitors back in time to the age of giants.

Jeep Tours:
